Do you believe you can in your life… or do you fall into thinking you can’t at times?

Think back for a minute on which place your mind typically goes when presented with a challenge. For every time you thought you were unable to do something, what usually happens? If you’re like most, the result is the exact same as what you thought was going to happen.

Now look at times where you thought you could do something. Did you normally find a way to make it happen? Most people do most of the time.

This is the power of the mind on your results. I go into every situation thinking I can even when I have no idea how I am going to accomplish it. I then ask myself the key question to give myself the opportunity to succeed

“How can I do _________?”

The reason this is the key question is it starts my mind working on finding possible solutions to whatever my challenge is at the time. Since it is an open-ended question, my mind will constantly keep searching like the computer it is until it finds an answer.

Do you think this a powerful way to take on any challenge?

Are you impatient about getting what you want? For probably the first time ever in your life, I will tell you being or creating this impatience is a good trait when used effectively.

Now typically, most of us have been told to be patient as we have grown up. I know this was challenging for me at times. I’m sure you heard the same types of sayings from your parents, family, and teachers. ‘Patience is a virtue.’ or ‘Good things come to those who wait.’ Ever heard these before or even said these yourself to someone else?

This is just one more way your mindset can affect your results. The programming you have received from others teaches you to wait to get the benefits you want. It’s being programmed into us at an early age. While this can serve another’s agenda in having you wait for a result without taking any action to make it happen, it definitely slows your results.

As an entrepreneur, teaching yourself to be impatient is a way to motivate yourself to take massive action NOW! Just think for a minute. When you have a deadline coming, does it move you faster to make sure the goal gets completed. I know I work much better against a deadline. It’s how I have always worked. When I have a short deadline, my focus is increased. I take more action steps in this smaller time frame to make sure I’m successful. The larger number of action steps in a shorter time helps me reach my goals much quicker.

Now this can also work with your team. I set aggressive deadlines with my team all the time. When I create short timelines on projects, it drives them to finish sooner. When we finish one task sooner, we are able to get to the next one earlier. Since I use my impatience to set aggressive principle targets, myself and my companies get to more opportunities faster. Getting to more opportunities adds to the overall success of my companies.

Do you want more results faster in your life? Get impatient. Take more actions now. You have a great message, service or solution to help out the world. The only thing you are doing by being patient is cheating them out of the opportunity to realize the benefits of what you offer. Use your impatience to help drive your business.

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to be successful? If you have attended my MaverickSelling Business Builder Bootcamp or my Mindset Mastery Experience, you have experienced what I mean when I say Whatever It Takes with the exercise we do. And as always I say as long as it’s moral, legal and ethical.

Many people say yes to this without thinking of the true meaning.

Are you willing to skip your children or your spouse’s birthdays and anniversaries?

Will you get up early and stay up late creating a new life for yourself and your family?

Will you drop TV from your life?

Will you make the cold calls to find new leads?

Will you skip vacation to attend a training event to further your goals?

Will you stay in to work on moving your business forward while all your friends and family are out having a good time?

Will you ask others for money or other resources you need to succeed?

Will you make one more sales call every day?

Will you reduce your sleep time?

Will you listen to others who have succeeded already and do whatever they tell you to do without questioning why or if it’s a good idea?

If you answered ‘no’ to any of those questions, you are putting a limit on what you will accomplish. In fact, if you answered “yes, but…” to any of them you are limiting your results. When I ask, “Are you willing to do whatever it takes?”, there is no comma at the end when you respond. Only a period when you say yes. If you add the comma, you are limiting yourself. When you limit yourself, you are unable to realize the true, full potential of what you are creating.

Successful entrepreneurs are willing to do whatever it takes when they are working toward their goals. This dedication shows your passion for achieving your result. This ability is what will draw others to you and your goal and is the trait of a leader. Leaders attract others willing to do put forth the same effort. This creates additional leverage to reach your goals faster. Like I always say, when you paint a large enough vision and act accordingly, others will line up to help you get there faster.

Many people have great ideas and big dreams for the future. What will separate the wanna-be’s from the successful is their desire to take any action necessary to create the result they want without the comma. Are you a success or a wanne-be? Will you do whatever it takes from this day forward to remove the limits on your success?

How quickly do you make decisions? Is it right away or is it a process in most cases? This varies in many people – except successful entrepreneurs. With successful entrepreneurs, they make their decisions quickly with only up to 30% of the available information. It’s one of the keys to their success.

Think about this – have you ever gone to McDonalds or another fast food restaurant to order something to eat? When you get up to the clerk, you stand there staring at the menu going over the options, unsure of what to eat. You keep reading down the menu over and over until you finally order something you have ordered many times before. Now the menu is relatively the same as it has ever been. Why the hesitation and indecisiveness… especially with something you are already familiar with?

Successful entrepreneurs have learned this indecisiveness like our fast food restaurant example slows down the results you get in your life and business. What’s the worst thing that could happen if you made a quick choice in the McDonalds line? You get a sandwich or salad which wasn’t your favorite meal. The purpose for most at a fast food restaurant is to get something fast and easy. If you want a high quality meal, you would be making a different choice anyway. Then why waste the extra time?

Entrepreneurs have trained their decision-making muscle to act quickly. Training yourself is all it takes to improve how quickly you choose. Practice making fast decisions. Allow yourself 30 seconds at a restaurant to make a decision. You begin to analyze information faster strengthening this much needed fast-decisions-making muscle. This will then start to carry over into the other decisions you make.

Taking tons of time to analyze and make a decision really doesn’t mean the decision will be any more correct than making the same decision faster. The faster decision does mean you have the opportunity to enjoy the result sooner or make adjustments to get the results you want earlier. Either way, you get your results faster.

Start practicing making fast decisions in your life. You will love how much faster you achieve the results you want in your life. And the added bonus is by making fast decisions, you will actually get to more opportunities to create even larger success because you have the additional time to find them.

Are you proud of how few mistakes you make? If you answered yes, the question to ask yourself is are you stepping outside of your comfort zone enough and growing?

I have worked with many entrepreneurs who are very concerned about everything being just right before they take any meaningful steps forward. I understand the desire to get the result you want with any action. The biggest challenge with this approach is it slows down what you are able to accomplish.

If you choose only to take actions where you know you will succeed, this limits the number of actions you will take. In most cases, this means you will only attempt that with which you have experience and a comfort level. Well if your previous experiences were enough to help you get to your goals, you would already have achieved the success you want.

For every successful entrepreneur, they have had to take actions which they were unsure of the results. It is part of the process of achieving great success. Those who take risks get larger rewards. At the same time, there is always the chance they will have larger failures too.

Taking the actions you need to grow knowing you could fail is what separates the employee mindset from the business owner mindset. Employees want to be right. Entrepreneurs want to be successful. Success is attained by taking actions outside your current knowledge and comfort level meaning there is a much larger risk of falling short.

For great growth and success to happen, larger risks must be taken. Successful entrepreneurs embrace the fact they must take risks and will inevitably fail more often than the average person. They also embrace these failures as steps on the journey to success.

Are you ready to grow and succeed? Start taking actions outside your comfort zone as often as possible since this is the path to your dream life.

Have you ever gotten a new software or app and when you went to open it up received the message that it wouldn’t run on the computer or device you were looking to use it on? This is usually because the device doesn’t have the correct hardware or software to run the latest programs. So what do you do? That’s right, you need to update to keep up with the newest technology.

The same thing happens in your life. Even when you have been successful, the game is changing at a faster and faster pace. The only way to maintain the success is to keep innovating.

This means multiple types of opportunities. It could be new marketing ideas, different product solutions for your customers to meet their needs, new markets to expand into, new niches to enter, better methods to service your clients, improved customer service.

One of the challenges for many entrepreneurs is they are too involved and in the middle of the business – it can be hard to see some of the ways to innovate.

Attending training events, industry conferences,working with a coach or mentor, reading voraciously, networking within your industry and outside of it, masterminding with other business owners and outside consulting are all ways to pick up new ideas and fresh eyes on your business. Pick at least two of these to be doing at any one time. Then keep on adding new options to your innovation mix.

Staying on top is a continual innovation process. The best are always adding new pieces to stay where they are. What are you going to do to step up your business and your life to the next level? Make sure you are upgrading constantly to avoid the old technology scrap heap.

Do you act like you at all times or are there times you act differently because you think you should?

One of the comments I get so often is I’m very real. This usually comes from people after they get to spend some time with me in both a social and training/business setting. They often admit they thought part of my persona had to be a “stage” me acting differently in front of a group than with those I know closest. This used to be true until a few years ago… and I didn’t even realize it!

When I started speaking more on stage quite a few years ago, I had one of my colleagues ask me why I changed into a drill instructor looking to tell the audience what they needed to do to make a change in their life. This colleague knew me personally outside of this event and saw the big difference when I was on stage. I never realized there was such a big difference.

This feedback gave me the opportunity to consciously make a choice on whether I wanted to be a stage persona and then be the regular me everyone knew when I was off stage or do something different than what I was currently doing. I had thought I needed to be more the drill instructor type on stage to be effective. At that point I empowered myself to be me at all times.

I changed what I did from that point forward. I changed my presentation and empowered myself to just be me at all times. With the permission I had given myself to just be me at all times an unexpected thing happened – even more people have been drawn to me. This comes from the fact when people see you are congruent at all times, they feel comfortable with you, they want to be around you and they trust you.

It also made my coaching more effective for my students because it attracted people who liked me and wanted what I had. They felt a draw to me and were willing to take the action steps necessary to create the life they wanted.

The decision to empower myself and let others see the real me is one of those defining moments in life. The decision of allowing myself to be me at all times is one of the reasons my business has taken off and the opportunities keep coming.

I knew I wanted to share it with you in case you are doing the same thing – being one person with those you are close to and another in front of everyone else. Be congruent in who you are at all times. Empower yourself to be you. You will find the people you really want in your life. And the results which come from it are amazing!

One of my favorite sayings because it is so very true. Do you approach everything in your life the same way – with the same positive energy, with the same drive and determination, with the same focus on quality?

I always look for consistency in those I surround myself. When I notice them acting one way when we are in private and another way when we are in public, it makes me take notice. One of my strengths is I am the same person no matter what and approach my life with the same energy, drive, focus and FUN at all times.

Since I do this, those around me notice I am consistent and they feel more at ease with me. This leads to more opportunities in many ways since people like to work with people they are comfortable around. Nice side effect of just being who I am at all times.

This also goes back to the idea that the way you practice anything is what your body and mind get used to doing when they encounter a certain type of situation. When I played soccer, my coaches always wanted us to practice the same way we would play in a game – same intensity, same focus, same mindset. Why? They knew if we practiced this way, during the game we would react the same way. Makes the result more predictable for all involved.

Approaching life with this attitude of the way I do anything is the way I do everything just makes sense. I want the most out of my life. To get the most out of my life, I have to show up in the same way for everything – whether it’s shuttling the kids to practice or the dentist, reviewing notes from previous coaching calls before getting on the phone with one of my students, hanging out with family and friends on my pool deck or training hundreds of people at an event – I want to provide and receive the maximum value. I do this by being the Ultimate Me at all times.

Where is the first place you look in your life when something goes wrong? Was your answer “in the mirror” or “at myself”? Shocking, I know. Why would you look there first?

One of the traits of successful Mavericks is taking 100% responsibility. This even means when you thought you did everything you could to ensure the results you wanted, the first place to look is at yourself.

What could you have done different?

How could you do it better?

What are you going to do differently moving forward to change the results the next time?

When you start by looking within for ways to make the process better you are looking at the one variable you are able to control – YOU. When you see people placing blame, it is really to satisfy their own ego that they did everything they could correctly and saying the results were all what someone else did incorrectly. While there can be a certain amount of responsibility to go to others, it all started with you.

Could you have explained what you wanted more thoroughly?

Did you confirm they understood what was expected by asking clarifying questions?

Could you have picked a more qualified person to do the task?

Were the expected results possible with the information you had?

These are a few of the questions to ask yourself when analyzing what happened instead of just taking out your finger and pointing it directly at someone else.

When you take 100% responsibility in your life, watch what happens. You will attract a different type of person to work with on your projects. You will create a fierce loyalty among you employees, contractors, partners and clients because of the character you show. You will create a culture in your business of people who do the same. And you will create a level of success few can match.

So who is responsible for all the results in your life?

Do you understand the difference?

I know I see this often with many students of mine. Once they come to my Maverick Selling Business Builder Bootcamp and learn the lessons I teach, they feel like they need to share this information. Learning the training is the knowledge part of the equation. These students know new information which will help many of their family, friends and contacts in ways they never imagined were possible.

Can you guess where the challenge comes in? Most people I know go running home looking to share this information with everyone. It’s the excitement they have with the knowledge they have just learned which they want to share with everyone.

The challenging part is many of the people they are dumping this information on are in a different place and are unable or unwilling to do anything with it.

The wisdom part comes in knowing when to use this new information when their contact is in a more receptive place. This is the part which comes with experience.

Do I know most people could use my coaching to take their life and their business up to the next level – of course. I also know me running around letting everyone know the challenges they have which I could help them solve is an effort in futility. If these people are unaware of these needs themselves and not in a position to want to do something about it, the knowledge will fall on deaf ears.

Learning the knowledge and taking the action steps you need to move forward in your life is an awesome step. Having the wisdom of when to approach others about the same opportunity is priceless.
