“If you don’t value your time, neither will others. Stop giving away your time and talents. Value what you know & start charging for it.” – Kim Garst

How do you value your time?

Do you just give it away without thinking about what it is worth?  This is very common among entrepreneurs.  I work with so many business owners, coaches and trainers who have never charged anywhere close to the value they provide… or even just give away their knowledge.

One thing I learned is when you value your time, and charge for it accordingly, others value the advice and direction coming out of your time together.  When you give your time away you actually could be cheating the other person out of ever making the change necessary to create more in their life and getting any results at all.

Think how many people you know who are quick to give you advice, sometimes without even being asked for it.  Do you pay as much attention to them as you do someone you are paying for what could be the same advice?

What is the difference between the two?

One easy to identify difference is because you have invested money in whatever area they are helping you.  When another person has a resource of their own invested, they tend to take more action than if the assistance is given away.

Now the flip side is the best part because it creates a win-win for both parties.  Since they are paying you for your time, you are making additional income working with people who are more serious about taking action in their lives and creating change.  The additional income is fantastic!  The added bonus is the people who value your time are often easier to work with and are willing to do whatever it takes to create the change they want in their life.

Are you ready to start valuing your time correctly while creating better results for others at the same time?  Click here to spend more time with me so we can create this exact result in your life.

“Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” -John D. Rockefeller

Do you give up the good to go for the great in your life?  For many, this is a challenge.  They finally created some success and are feeling comfortable in their life.

This feeling comfortable is an entrepreneur’s worst pitfall.  It feels good.  They accomplished the principle targets they set out to achieve at the beginning of their journey.

Is this good all you were meant to accomplish…  or is this just one step on the stairway to greatness?

Some of my students can find it hard to step away from the good they already found to go after the great.  They don’t want to give up what they have to attempt to get to something awesome.  For them, the security of the good is hard to move beyond, especially if they might have to give it up to get to the next level.

Remember, you were put here to be great.  It is your whole purpose for being here. By accepting the good, you are cheating yourself and all those around you of encountering and being a part of your greatness.

Think of where would be now if Bill Gates and Steve Jobs would have settled for being good computer programmers instead of innovative, envelope pushing, seekers of greatness.  The Macbook I’m writing this on would never have happened without the desire to be great instead of just good.  Steve would have stopped long before this computer ever became an idea.

This is just one example of someone who accepted letting go of the good to do something great.  Greatness affects many positively.  Are you ready to be great?  Then let’s set new, even more ambitious principle targets to strive for on the next step up the greatness staircase.  I’ll be here beside you as you climb.

WOW – I guess I am a “Maverick” – the response to the question I asked through social media has been amazing both online and off line.

People from my personal life and my professional world have all come back with the same response – “absolutely” ~ “no question” ~ “you always have been” ~ “no kidding you are a Maverick, you have bucked the system your whole life”.

I think back over my 30 year career and realize that is the one word that would define it all … from the very beginning! My first job out of college was a salaried position with a small bonus for sales completed… I quit after 7 weeks to go to the competition who paid straight commission!

With that position, I grew fast and within 6 months had my best friend working for me.  I figured out my strengths and, more importantly, my weaknesses!

I was good at opening new accounts and yet had challenges with follow through.  Instead of beating myself up or looking to spend time changing so I could grow to mediocre in the follow through department, I brought in someone who was GREAT at follow through.  What a great experience we had building it up as a team… which just was NOT done by any of my peers.

Then – the company I was working for was forced out of business (by the Feds ~ longer tale for another day).  Instead of ignoring the obvious or crying over the loss of a job or position like most of my co-workers, I saw an opportunity.

Within 2 weeks had my first major company launched.  Because I took action (a Maverick move compared to the actions taken by all around me), the TOP salespeople all came to work for me. Remember these were senior, straight commission salespeople and I was a 22 year old playing CEO for the first time.  In 6 months, we did over $500,000 in gross sales.

Over the years, I have owned more businesses that I can remember; Stepped up when others didn’t; Took action while others watched; Took the road less traveled; Dared to test out a theory and take the BOLD move; and simply learned to dance to my own beat.

Thirty years now with a Serial Entrepreneurial life… and lifestyle;

30 years of being told to get a real job;

30 years of people saying “that isn’t going to work”;

30 years of people commenting on my behavior and not quite getting what I was up to;

30 years of consistently taking “risks” they wouldn’t take;

30 years of bucking the status quo.

SO I am a Maverick! What has it gotten me…

A life long career of experience that has given me a long, varied and impressive resume.

Freedom to work out of my house for decades and Time to enjoy my family.

Financial Power … now this is different from Financial Freedom I hear so many wish for.  Financial Power is active and passive income that is produced on your terms with NO “strings” to tie you in knots.  Financial Power truly enables me to do what I want, when I want, and how I want… I have created Financial Power now and for the rest of my life.

SO I am a Maverick!  Who wants to be a Maverick with me???

And this gives me an idea.  Stay tuned.  I know you are going to love what’s coming next…

When a man has put a limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do.” – Charles Schwab

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to be successful?  If you have attended my Mindset Mastery Experience, you have experienced what I mean when I say Whatever It Takes with the exercise we do.  And as always I say as long as it’s moral, legal and ethical.

Many people say yes to this without thinking of the true meaning.

  • Are you willing to skip your children or your spouse’s birthdays and anniversaries?
  • Will you get up early and stay up late creating a new life for yourself and your family?
  • Will you drop TV from your life?
  • Will you make the cold calls to find new leads?
  • Will you skip vacation to attend a training event to further your goals?
  • Will you stay in to work on moving your business forward while all your friends and family are out having a good time?
  • Will you ask others for money or other resources you need to succeed?
  • Will you make one more sales call every day?
  • Will you reduce your sleep time?
  • Will you listen to others who have succeeded already and do whatever they tell you to do without questioning why or if it’s a good idea?

If you answered ‘no’ to any of those questions, you are putting a limit on what you will accomplish.   In fact, if you answered “yes, but…” to any of them you are limiting your results.  When I ask, “Are you willing to do whatever it takes?”, there is no comma at the end when you respond.  Only a period when you say yes.  If you add the comma, you are limiting yourself.  When you limit yourself, you are unable to realize the true, full potential of what you are creating.

Successful entrepreneurs are willing to do whatever it takes when they are working toward their goals.   This dedication shows your passion for achieving your result.  This ability is what will draw others to you and your goal and is the trait of a leader.  Leaders attract others willing to do put forth the same effort.  This creates additional leverage to reach your goals faster.  Like I always say, when you paint a large enough vision and act accordingly, others will line up to help you get there faster.

Many people have great ideas and big dreams for the future.  What will separate the wanna-be’s from the successful is their desire to take any action necessary to create the result they want without the comma.  Are you a success or a wanne-be?  Will you do whatever it takes from this day forward to remove the limits on your success?

Tell me in the comments below what your whatever it takes is to create your dreams.

“Fast decisions produce fast results, and I want fast results – thus I decide” – Paul Finck

How quickly do you make decisions?  Is it right away or is it a process in most cases?  This varies in many people – except successful entrepreneurs.  With successful entrepreneurs, they make their decisions quickly with only up to 30% of the available information.  It’s one of the keys to their success.

Think about this – have you ever gone to McDonalds or another fast food restaurant to order something to eat?  When you get up to the clerk, you stand there staring at the menu going over the options, unsure of what to eat.  You keep reading down the menu over and over until you finally order something you have ordered many times before.  Now the menu is relatively the same as it has ever been.  Why the hesitation and indecisiveness… especially with something you are already familiar with?

Successful entrepreneurs have learned this indecisiveness like our fast food restaurant example slows down the results you get in your life and business.  What’s the worst thing that could happen if you made a quick choice in the McDonalds line?  You get a sandwich or salad which wasn’t your favorite meal.  The purpose for most at a fast food restaurant is to get something fast and easy.  If you want a high quality meal, you would be making a different choice anyway.  Then why waste the extra time?

Entrepreneurs have trained their decision-making muscle to act quickly.  Training yourself is all it takes to improve how quickly you choose.  Practice making fast decisions.  Allow yourself 30 seconds at a restaurant to make a decision.  You begin to analyze information faster strengthening this much needed fast-decisions-making muscle.  This will then start to carry over into the other decisions you make.

Taking tons of time to analyze and make a decision really doesn’t mean the decision will be any more correct than making the same decision faster.  The faster decision does mean you have the opportunity to enjoy the result sooner or make adjustments to get the results you want earlier.  Either way, you get your results faster.

Start practicing making fast decisions in your life.  You will love how much faster you achieve the results you want in your life.  And the added bonus is by making fast decisions, you will actually get to more opportunities to create even larger success because you have the additional time to find them.

“What I visualize I energize!” – Paul Finck

Have you taken the time to visualize the results you want in your life in the last week? If not, when was the last time you did?  Are you getting the results you want as fast as you want?

One of the processes which has helped me immensely in my success is visualization.  When you visualize the results you want in vivid detail including the emotions you feel, what you see, how everything smells, what you hear your mind sees it as already having happened.  Now the important part is involving as many senses as possible.  The more senses the more real your mind perceives it as having happened.

When your mind sees the results you want as already happening, your mind believes it is possible to do again since it has already happened once.  This is the same result achieved by athletes who practice over and over the same action so their body and mind get used to seeing, feeling, touching and experiencing the result they want.

After visualization, when you encounter the opportunities to create this exact results, your mind will recognize them and help you step into them since it knows the result.  This will energize your progress forward creating your success faster.

I use this consistently in my life to create the results I want and have for years.  Make sure to ask me about it at our next Mindset Mastery Experience event so I can share even more with you.

Are you ready to energize your results?  Start making visualization a part of your daily action items.

“Do what you can, where you are, with what you have.” – Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt

Have you ever heard someone say they would do something after another result happens?  Often it’s along the lines of I’ll get started in my business, once I get through this busy time at work or once I have enough money to get started or once this family emergency is over.  There are always excuses as to why it’s not the perfect time… or the perfect location… or perfect financial situation.  And they are always available if you choose to use them.

Every successful entrepreneur knows the biggest step toward success is getting started no matter what else is happening at the specific time.  They know the only perfect time to do anything is right now.

Why are they so willing to just step forward and take action?  They realize that looking for the perfect time is only a procrastination technique.  If you are waiting for the perfect storm of circumstances to occur before you take action, it will rarely, if ever, occur.

They also know in their business, there will be challenging times which pop up.  To succeed, they will need to rise to and solve these challenges.  Knowing this already, why would they let a challenge at the beginning hold them back?

Take the view that when you are passionate about an idea, the best time to take action is today.  Get started with the resources you have available now and find whatever else it is you need.  It will lead you to your desired result much faster.

“You think intelligence and grit can succeed by themselves, but I’m telling you that’s a pretty illusion.”
-Nancy Kress

Have you ever met someone who was very smart, yet never really achieved the success they should have?

Or have you met someone who worked really hard, yet still never succeeded the way they wanted?

I have even met people who had both intelligence and a great work ethic with a never quit attitude who still were missing something to get them to their goals.  I know many who feel that those who possessed these two traits were sure bet to succeed.  Why was this false?

 I have found over the years there is much more to being successful.  The key part of this quote is the phrase “by themselves”.  Now this part of working for yourself is one reason why many become an entrepreneur.  They feel they want their freedom and can do it better than anyone else.  They get into business being the lone ranger being everything from the chief to the cook to the bottle washer as the saying goes.  Sound familiar for anyone you know?

 I used to be the same way.  I used to take care of as much as possible myself.  I achieved some success, yet never the freedom I was truly looking for.  This is because all I had created was a higher paying job for myself.  Not exactly the lifestyle I envisioned when I started.

I realized after talking with my mentors I was lacking a key component to create the life I wanted – I needed a team!  With a team, I was able to leverage their time, their abilities, their commitment, their ideas.  I was able to reach more people.  Provide more value.  Solve more challenges.  Spend more time doing the activities which grow the business as opposed to just maintaining  my existing business.  Having a strong team is one of the keys in growing from a being a solo-preneur to being an actual business.

This realization and action steps taken toward creating this is what allows me the time to balance my life.  I get to spend time with my family.  I get to take off when I want.  I’m able to take care of my health.  I get to enjoy the lifestyle I had always envisioned when I thought of successful people.  Is this part of what your vision of success looks like to?

When it is, take a lesson from my path to success.  All the intelligence and grit in the world will get you only so far on your journey.  Adding in other components like building a strong team is important to have the impact to truly reach the success you always dreamed.  Time to start figuring out what team members will help your business grow.

“Success goes to the ones who do. Get up. Show up. Throw up if you have to. Do it afraid, but do it no matter.” – Toni Sorenson

Do you ‘just do it’ everyday in your life and business?  Or do you get sidetracked and let obstacles slow you down consistently?

One of the reasons successful entrepreneurs are successful is they just do it without any excuses.  They make sure they put themselves in the position to find new opportunities every day.  Whether this is sending out marketing, attending meetings, making phone calls, going to networking events, or one of many other action steps, they make the effort to get out and meet prospective customers daily.

They also show up ready to take advantage of every opportunity which appears.  This means they have done their homework and put in the effort ahead of time.  They know their business and how they can help others.

Successful entrepreneurs show up with a positive attitude viewing every interaction as the opening to figure out how to serve the other person best.  Sometimes this is through what services they have and other times, it’s through referring the person to one of their contacts.

And the biggest key trait is a determination and a motivation to do whatever it takes every day.  This means when an obstacle arises, they find a solution to it.  They utilize their resources to help them continue moving forward.  They embrace any fears knowing this just means they are growing and doing new actions outside their comfort zone and that’s part of all growth.  They ‘Just Do It’!

 Are you willing to be a successful entrepreneur and just do it?  It’s what is necessary to achieve all you want to achieve.  Embrace this mantra now to create the life you want and deserve.
