Change Your Results

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” – Tony Robbins

Are you happy with the results you have been getting in your life? Congratulations if you are. Great job on putting in the effort to create your dream life.

If you want different results than what you have been getting, what are you doing to change them?

This is the tricky part for many. Many set their goals for the change they want in their life and then continue taking the same action steps they have been taking which has them where they are now. Do you see the challenge here?

Change Your Results

Just like Tony says, keep taking the same actions, you will keep getting the same results. When your goals are different than you how you currently exist, the only way to get to your goals is with different action steps.

This may be challenging for you.

This will stretch you outside your comfort zone. It will require you to step up your game to new levels with new commitment levels.

There is effort involved to make any change.  Are you willing to do it?

Remember, if it was easy, everyone would do it. Accept the fact there will be days you question what you are doing.  Know this is the universe testing your commitment to what you said you want.

Part of creating a new reality for yourself is believing in yourself before you see any results. Every successful person does this. You have to have the vision of what you want the results to be while you believe they will happen – whatever it takes.  This belief determines your success.

What now?

Take the time now to pull out one of your Principle Targets. Map out what action steps you will take to achieve the results you want. Add dates as to when these action steps will happen. Place these action steps into you calendar, on to your to-do list or posted somewhere you will see them consistently.

With the plan in place, it’s up to you to take these different action to reach your different results.

Afraid?

“When I dare to be powerful – to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” – Audre Lorde

Are you ever afraid of moving forward in your life? This comes up often for entrepreneurs. You are constantly doing new actions which are often filled with risk. There can be many opportunities for fear to creep in and take hold.

The successful entrepreneurs learn how to work with the fear instead of letting it paralyze them. Have you learned how to get through the fear barrier consistently?

The 2 Keys

Two of your biggest keys are in your vision and your why. Your vision needs to be big enough to excite you and pull you toward it. It is a goal which you will do anything you need to do to attain – even conquer your largest fears.

The second part which ties in tightly with your vision is your why. Why are you doing what you are doing? This needs to be emotionally charged for you – either positively or negatively. Some people will work harder for the carrot while others will work harder to avoid the stick. Only you can figure out which drives you more effectively.

The most important factor with your why is you must feel it when you think or talk about it. If you don’t, it will never help get you over the fear hump in the road. This emotion is the fuel to power your engine to find whatever way you need to blast through any fear or obstacle in your way.

I’m sure you have heard many people say they want to succeed for their family or to be able to give back or to have the freedom to decide what they do when they want to do it. Sound familiar at all?

For most, this why is unable to move them strongly enough to do whatever it takes to achieve their vision. It’s something people expect them to say. I call it their cocktail why because it’s what you would hear at any party when talking to someone… and they’ve probably been saying it for many years with little to no emotional attachment. This is why many people never succeed to the level they want – no deep driving force.

Your emotion about a topic is a powerful force. When harnessed it can be like jet fuel to power you forward. Your emotion-felt why will drive you to be everything you want to be. The more you feel the emotion, the faster and longer the engine will run to drive you to your vision.

You will be tested in your commitment to achieve as an entrepreneur. When your why and vision are strong enough, you will be the powerful person you are destined to be.

Do It Different

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” – Mark Twain

Do you tend to agree with popular opinion or do you typically have an alternate view of any topic? You know my thoughts on choosing what to do when wondering about a decision. Look at what the 95%ers are doing and do the exact opposite.

Why do I react this way? The biggest reason is once an idea or way of doing things has become popular, all the upside in it is gone.

By 2007, real estate investing had become very popular. There were multiple TV shows about flipping houses. The media was featuring stories about the incredible housing market. People were leveraging their homes with home equity lines of credit and loans. People were spending very freely because their house was appreciating so quickly they would be fine to be able to pay these debts. New homeowners were able to get into homes priced way above their means with interest only loans.

Well you know what happened through 2007 and 2008. The whole dynamic changed. The rush of people into real estate now became a huge challenge to the country. There was the mortgage meltdown as it was termed. The economy for many sank. The foreclosure crisis hit. Overall, the majority did very poorly.

During this downturn for the 95%ers, who was making money? The people doing the exact opposite of what the majority was doing. I know my economy started to take off at this time… and I’m not alone. As the 95%ers fled real estate, I know multiple investors who made a great living and created generational wealth during this time. Why was it different for us?

We know the real money and success happens in any opportunity before the masses identify the opportunity. Successful entrepreneurs get in to ride the wave as its getting bigger. Once it reaches a sizable height, we know it’s time to look for the next wave before the top of this one curls over on us.

Knowing this fact is why when you see the masses headed in a specific direction and you are with them, take a minute to analyze what’s going on. Is the wave growing still or is the lip about come curl over on you and take you under?

Be aware of what the majority is doing. Being aware of what the majority is doing is the reason the 5%ers continue to be the 5%ers. They look for the opportunity where no one else is surfing yet to jump on the next big wave. Start identifying where the majority is headed and begin searching for other options to create your next success.

Mind is the Mine

“The mind is the mine of man, wherein he digs out good or evil.” – Ogwo David Emenike

What do you dig out of your mind daily? This can be a tricky question for many since both good and evil are available.

The choice you make every day is where to focus your mindset. You can focus on action steps which move your goals forward every day. When you choose this daily, you create momentum in your life.

Now if you choose to focus on all the challenges you face, all the reasons why you are unable to get to your goals and why everyone seems to be working against you, you know you have hit a vein of evil in your mind. Is this where you want to be? You choose what you mine.

The Traveller

This brings to mind a story. There was a man traveling from City A to City B walking along a road. He passes another person going the opposite direction. They ask him what type of people there are in the city he is coming from. The man asks the other traveller what kind of people were in the city he just came from. They responded they were all liars, cheats, and scam artists looking out only for themselves. He tells the other traveller that is exactly what they will find in City A when they get there too.

A little while later, he comes upon a second traveller headed toward City A. This second traveller asks the same question about what type of people are in City A. The man asks him what type of people were in City B where he is coming from. The traveller answers they were all kind-hearted, helpful and friendly. They would do anything for their neighbor. The man says that is exactly the same type of person he will find in City A.

Now how can City A fit the description for both types of people? It’s because whatever you seek, you shall find. If you seek out good, you will find good. If you seek out bad, you will find it just as easily. It’s up to you to choose your focus.

Choose to mine the good in your mind to live a life filled with abundance and happiness. Your success is entirely up to you and what you mine.

Limiting?

“When a man has put a limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do.” – Charles Schwab

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to be successful? If you have attended my Maverick Selling Business Builder Bootcamp or my Mindset Mastery Experience, you have experienced what I mean when I say Whatever It Takes with the exercise we do. And as always I say as long as it’s moral, legal and ethical.

Many people say yes to this without thinking of the true meaning.

What Are You Willing To Do?

Are you willing to skip your children or your spouse’s birthdays and anniversaries?

Will you get up early and stay up late creating a new life for yourself and your family?

Will you drop TV from your life?

Will you make the cold calls to find new leads?

Will you skip vacation to attend a training event to further your goals?

Will you stay in to work on moving your business forward while all your friends and family are out having a good time?

Will you ask others for money or other resources you need to succeed?

Will you make one more sales call every day?

Will you reduce your sleep time?

Will you listen to others who have succeeded already and do whatever they tell you to do without questioning why or if it’s a good idea?

If you answered ‘no’ to any of those questions, you are putting a limit on what you will accomplish. In fact, if you answered “yes, but…” to any of them you are limiting your results.

When I ask, “Are you willing to do whatever it takes?”, there is no comma at the end when you respond. Only a period when you say yes. If you add the comma, you are limiting yourself. When you limit yourself, you are unable to realize the true, full potential of what you are creating.

Successful entrepreneurs are willing to do whatever it takes when they are working toward their goals. This dedication shows your passion for achieving your result. This ability is what will draw others to you and your goal and is the trait of a leader. Leaders attract others willing to do put forth the same effort. This creates additional leverage to reach your goals faster. Like I always say, when you paint a large enough vision and act accordingly, others will line up to help you get there faster.

Many people have great ideas and big dreams for the future. What will separate the wanna-be’s from the successful is their desire to take any action necessary to create the result they want without the comma. Are you a success or a wanne-be? Will you do whatever it takes from this day forward to remove the limits on your success?

“Success isn’t a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire.” – Arnold H. Glasow

Are you waiting for the one big event or sign in your life to happen which will give you success?

I was talking to a student the other day and this is exactly where they were. This student had been studying real estate investing for a couple of years now. They had sent out one marketing campaign and were now waiting on the calls to come in to get their first deal. They were reluctant to do anything else right now because they knew they were going to be overwhelmed by the calls that came in and wanted to make sure they could keep up.  Do you know anyone like this?

Now as you might have heard from some of my trainings, I believe in taking massive action when you want to achieve a result. Waiting for one marketing campaign to be effective was very much like waiting for spontaneous combustion to happen. You can take one action and just wait to see if it works… and there is a much more effective route to your success.  Would you like to know the Maverick Way?

Figure out what else you can do to add some extra fuel to increase the likelihood you will ignite your success. This can be with additional marketing campaigns to other lists, reaching out to do joint ventures, placing ads where your target market looks for what you are selling, asking for referrals, networking, and when you want to add some real gasoline, find yourself a coach and mentor.

What I Do

Do you take this type of massive action in your business all at one time?  It is how I create my success.  Look at my events for example.  I have joint venture partners, I go out and speak at events, I use social media, I have online marketing, I have affiliates who market my event, I do email blasts, I do direct marketing, etc.  Each of these are done simultaneously to create attendance for an event.  If all I did was send out 10,000 pieces of direct mail and held off on the rest because I was concerned this would create too many leads, I would never fill a room.

When you add these additional fuels or accelerants to create your success, your success will happen faster and burn hotter than taking one action and expecting your success to take it from there. Commit to yourself to take massive action today to set yourself on fire instead of waiting for the spontaneous combustion to occur.

Do What is Necessary!

“It ‘s no use saying, “We are doing our best.” You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary.” – Winston Churchill

Have you ever heard someone say “We are doing our best.” when another person asks for why the results are less than expected for a project? Was that reason accepted for falling short of a goal?

As a successful entrepreneur, I know there are 1 of 2 things which I get at the end of an action step – either a result or an excuse. Which do you think I classify “We are doing our best.” as among these two options? You guessed it – an excuse.

As the business owner, the best someone has may still fall short of what’s needed to accomplish the task at hand. What do you do then to reach your principle target? You must do whatever is necessary to be successful. It’s the only way to get where you want to go and lead your team to accomplish action steps they never knew could happen.

Often doing whatever is necessary will mean stretching and growing the skill sets of your current team members needed to achieve the expected level. This could be through education or even just the on the job experience of rising to the challenge to find and develop the skills needed. As this is accomplished, the person ‘s “best” when they made the original statement is now a distant memory in their rear view mirror of life as they have established a new best.

You can also use your resourcefulness to find others who are able to help you achieve you goal. This could mean more assistance for your team by adding additional team members. It could mean different team members with more specialized skills to accomplish a particular task. It could mean reaching out to mentors and coaches to get needed input on ways to handle a particular challenge. Whatever it is, do what is necessary to achieve your expected result.

Adopting the mindset to do whatever is necessary is a keystone for your success in your life and your business. You will go back to it repeatedly when the challenges popup. You must do whatever is necessary and find ways to reach your goals. It is part of breaking the chains which have held you down. Accepting anything less sells you, your family, and your business short.

Take Risks to Succeed

“There are no environments where you’re only going to win, because life just isn’t like that.” – Bobby Orr

Do you take risks? What I mean by this is do you make decisions to move forward and take action even when the outcome of those actions is unknown? To achieve any success in our life, you will want to make these types of hard decisions.

Being able to move forward when the certainty of the result is unknown is one quality of a true leader and is part of the entrepreneur ‘s required skill set. Being able to take action even when you know failure is a possibility is what separates the hugely successful from those who live a safe, comfortable life… and to be a successful entrepreneur, YOU HAVE TO FAIL!

I often hear students looking to play it safe. They want all the answers before taking a step. They want to know the decision they make will work out before they invest their time and money. Wanting this kind of safety hurts the size of the reward. As you already know, life rewards those who are willing to take risks and those who move forward even when the result is an unknown.  Do you want huge rewards?

Think of those who invest in a company when it’s brand new and unproven. They are the investors who make the largest returns. The investors who come along after the company has proven itself successful may still make money and the returns are much lower. You see the relationship here? The size of the reward goes down as the size of the risk decreases.

Huge Risk = Possible Huge Reward

This leaves you with a decision to make. If you want a huge reward, you must learn to accept and take large risks. If you want a smaller, safe reward, then you can take smaller risks.

If huge success were easy, everyone would do it. Being successful in both life and your business takes the willingness to make the tough decision when others pause.

Taking these risks is all part of the game of living your dream life. Each time you take a risk, there is a reward for taking it… and oftentimes, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Are you ready to take more and larger risks?

Keep Innovating

“Do not get obsolete like an old technology, keep innovating yourself.” – Sukant Ratnakar

Have you ever gotten a new software or app and when you went to open it up received the message that it wouldn’t run on the computer or device you were looking to use it on? This is usually because the device doesn’t have the correct hardware or software to run the latest programs. So what do you do? That ‘s right, you need to update to keep up with the newest technology.

The same thing happens in your life. Even when you have been successful, the game is changing at a faster and faster pace. The only way to maintain the success is to keep innovating.

This means multiple types of opportunities. It could be:

  • new marketing ideas
  • different product solutions for your customers to meet their needs
  • new markets to expand into, new niches to enter
  • better methods to service your clients
  • improved customer service.

One of the challenges for many entrepreneurs is they are too involved and in the middle of the business – it can be hard to see some of the ways to innovate.

Attending training events, industry conferences, working with a coach or mentor, reading voraciously, networking within your industry and outside of it, masterminding with other business owners and outside consulting are all ways to pick up new ideas and fresh eyes on your business. Pick at least two of these to be doing at any one time. Then keep on adding new options to your innovation mix.

Staying on top is a continual innovation process. The best are always adding new pieces to stay where they are. What are you going to do to step up your business and your life to the next level? Make sure you are upgrading constantly to avoid the old technology scrap heap.
