Breaking Your Chains,

Paul Finck

P.S. Watch for a new Challenge video every day to see how you can break the chains in your life over the next 30 days.

When we study the lives of those that have achieved excellence in any walk of life we discover many common characteristics:

• Hard work,
• Dedication,
• A natural inclination,
• Talent that has been developed and perfected over time, and
• Powerful supporting beliefs.

Why is it that some have big bright futures stretching out in front of them, while many see their future as down right dark, gloomy and unclear? Why is it that some lead lives of outstanding achievement, while so many lead lives of quiet desperation?

When someone describes their future as down right dark, gloomy and unclear, and I was to ask them to imagine their future, the image would be dark and gloomy and unclear. When I ask the person with the huge bright future stretching out in front of them to describe their future, I would not be at all surprised to hear that the image was big and bright. We would I’m sure find a similar pattern in the internal dialogue of these two people; one being more negative, and the other positive, strong, confident and encouraging. We would also find distinct differences in the types of feelings each of them generate and experience.

So to really grasp the understanding of what the structure of excellence really is, we must embrace the power of our minds. Specifically, the power of our mind to control our future. In fact, not just control it. Our mind actually has the power to CREATE it in the image we desire. Our world – our very destiny is determined by the kind and type of pictures, sounds and feelings that we habitually run in our neurology.

So could it really be that simple? Could the difference between those that live lives of quiet desperation, and those that are able to get themselves to consistently do what is necessary for the achievement of excellence be as simple as the types of pictures, feelings and sounds they habitually use? I give you a resounding YES as the answer!

Remember – You are in control. You can decide to create the empowering pictures, sounds, images, and associated feelings in your neurology to create the REAL WORLD you live in daily. Excellence is within your grasp! The choice is yours – take it today.

P.S. For those of you looking to break your chains holding you back and create this excellence in your life, check out this special offer to start working with me.

What does YOUR environment look like?

We are the accumulation of the five people we hang out with the most. Our self-esteem, our joy, our passion, our judgement, and just about everything about us is shaped by the company we keep.

We are the products of our environment, which includes the people in those environments. Your environment has power (both positive and negative) on your life, and on your success?

That being said, who are the five people closest to you? Do they challenge you to think, grow, and dream? Or do they cause you to doubt, diminish, and accept life as is? Chances are, if they are not enhancing your life, they are lessening it.

By altering your environment, you leave yourself with no other option but to change accordingly.

Write down where you want to see yourself in the next couple of months. Once you’ve written down your principle targets, you know exactly who should be in your inner circle. Now, go out and create a power team of friends.

When you want wealth, surround yourself with other wealthy people.

When you want happiness, surround yourself with other happy people.

When you want success, surround yourself with other successful people.

When you want to be more optimistic, surround yourself with optimistic people.

When you want to be a high performer, surround yourself with high performing people.

When you want to be more enthusiastic, surround yourself with enthusiastic people.

Live a life where your environment inspires you to create and grow daily. Don’t underestimate the power of the directionless friend or the negative-nelly. Whether we like it or not, their lifestyles are contagious, infectious, and poisonous.

You owe it to yourself to be wary of and/or excited by the company you keep.

You make choices every day of your life. There is no such thing as a good or bad decision. There are simply decisions that are either effective or ineffective. They either move you towards or move you away from your principle targets.

The most important influence is how you came to make your choice.

What defines an ineffective decision is not a resulting failure, it is the failure to recognize the effect of one’s own actions.

Say you have a weight challenge and dinner time rolls around. You decide a delicious deluxe cheeseburger is too appetizing to pass up.

Is this an ineffective decision? Not necessarily.

The fact of the matter is that people neglect the extra calories taken in from the cheeseburger. If you’re hungry, on the go, or truly crave that cheeseburger, go ahead, eat it! However, keeping the consequence (i.e. the calorie count) in mind will lessen those trips to McDonalds.

So often people walk around with blinders on. They make their decisions neglecting possible outcomes. They have a constant disregard for the effects of their decisions, on their lives and the lives of those around them. They are then left with a lifetime of ineffective decisions that lead them down a path that they had never intended. They blame the world instead of taking charge of it.

Perhaps you fall into this category. Perhaps you neglect the power you have over your own destiny. Now, there’s no need to sit down and make a pros and cons list of every single option. Simply take off your blinders and begin to make your own conscious decisions.

Since the root of most mistakes lie in senseless decisions, you will find yourself making fewer and fewer mistakes once you begin making your choices consciously.

The ineffective decisions are the ones you don’t make or the ones you make negligently.

So often people find themselves in undesirable situations and neglect how they got their in the first place. They look for scapegoat after scapegoat until they eventually realize that they are the reason that they are where they are.

When you take charge of the world around you, take charge of the decisions you make, take charge of the product of your decisions, you’ll find that life is all about the choices you make. It is the decisions made by you, and you alone, which predict your present and your future.

If you are a business owner who wants to create a more profitable business, this is the most exciting and important message you will ever read.

As a successful business owner myself, I have seen many people buy the latest and greatest home study training figuring it has all the answers they need to take their business to the next level.

They are all excited when they see what is marketed as “the final piece” to create the success they have longed for through the past few years. You know what I mean. You have seen speakers in person… or on a webinar… or heard a recorded call or video… or looked over a website. Heck, I have seen them before myself many times over the years.

Their home study course is offered as the final answer to your challenge of:

  • The right education and training to teach you the nuts and bolts of your business
  • The perfect system to help structure your business
  • The latest marketing tool or strategy to bring in more customers
  • New markets to offer your products to create additional income

Any of these sound familiar? The challenge most times is this product is only one small piece of the puzzle. And as you know, one small piece is rarely the answer, right?

In fact, it’s usually multiple different pieces put together in the correct way to quantum leap your business to the next level. You are interested in stepping up to the next level of success in your business this year, right?

What Are these Steps Up for a Business Owner?

Let me explain what I mean by steps up:

  • an employee with a job steps up to a business owner/entrepreneur/solopreneur. This many times means starting a business in your field or specialty – doctor, lawyer, plumber, electrician, real estate investor, consultant.
  • a business owner/entrepreneur/solopreneur steps up to a small business with employees. This step is when you start to form a team of employees, joint venture partners or contractors to service larger sized clients or a larger number of clients at once.
  • a small business with employees steps up to a medium sized business with multiple locations and multiple levels of management. This is the level where you step up to multiple locations and may involve multiple regions of the country at once.

Each of these levels requires a new and different set of skills. Which of these is your next step?

First Step

When you step out of being an employee working for someone else to being an entrepreneur, you must learn so many different new skills to be successful:

time management
self-motivation
goal setting
specific product and industry knowledge
marketing funnels and tactics
sales
fulfillment of the product or service
customer service
legal structures, contracts and protection from liability
accounting systems

Any of these look familiar? There are so many new areas to learn at this step. Is it any wonder most new businesses fail?

Second Step

And for the solopreneur stepping up to being a small business, they are:

creating operational structures and systems
choosing the right team members
joint ventures
human resources
staff management
future planning
acquiring funding
multiple marketing campaigns through various media partnering
new legal structures and processes
increased accounting and audit procedures
… and this list goes on and on too.

One of the most common challenges at this step is the owner often makes the same amount of money they do at the previous level because the structures and knowledge are still at the entrepreneur level. Who wants a larger business, more responsibility, more work, and more commitment for the same income in the end?

Not me… and I would be willing to bet, not you either.

Third Step

When looking at the step up from small business to medium-sized business, there are a whole new set of skills, processes and structures to put in place too. Many times, this level requires new upper level management with advanced skill sets to transition effectively.

This third level’s new needed skills are varied depending on the business and the owner to an even greater degree. Since this is a much smaller group of business owners, I’m going to save time by reserving more of the details for this level. If this is you, make sure to pay attention for what is coming later in the email.

The Money Translation

One of the easiest ways to break the steps down is through the income levels. Just think of it this way:

Level 1- solopreneur – zero to low to mid- six figure income
Level 2- small business – six figures to million dollar income
Level 3- medium sized business – million dollar to multi-million dollar income

Where are you at now? Which level do you want to be at this year?

Now for the most important question, do you have the skills needed to step up to the next level?

Think about that for a moment because the answer may not be as obvious as you think. Are the skills to become an entrepreneur making six figures the same as those of an employee?

Are the skills to become a million dollar business the same as a six figure entrepreneur?

Are the skills to become a multi-million dollar business the same as a million dollar business?

Of course the skills are different for each new step up. If they weren’t, you would easily achieve any higher level once you had a base set of skills, right?

The Key Difference Among the Levels

The key change to jump to your next level of success is the way you, as the business owner, think. For each one of these levels, your mindset and focus are entirely different.

From doing just about everything yourself as an solopreneur… to creating teams and processes as a small business owner… to creating and leading multiple divisions toward the same goal as a medium-sized business owner, the mindset and focus are completely different.

Knowing this, have you ever seen a home study business or real estate product which can show you all of the different aspects which create your next success level in your business? Me neither! I don’ think it would be possible. Too many different variables with each business and each different owner for a one-sized fits all course.

What I have found is I have figured out what it takes to move up to the level you want to be at next.

You see, I have already stepped myself and my businesses up multiple times over my 27+ years as an entrepreneur and multiple business owner. I have the business experience to show you what you need and how to make it to the next step for yourself, almost immediately.

I don’t offer a one-size fits all, cookie cutter, home study program which will solve all your business needs. I know your business is unique, just like your skills needed to step up to the next level are specific to you. Wouldn’t you like a mentor to be able to show you what you need to move full-speed ahead?

I have created a perfect way to do this for you. And the best part is, it will only cost you your time to learn what I am teaching. Sound like a too-good-to-be-true offer?

For you, as one of my friends, I’m offering a limited number of tickets to this 3-day event, the Mindset Mastery Experience, coming up in February. This event sells on my website for $2997.00. Are you ready for the kicker?

Happy New Year!

With it being the start of the year, I know you are setting your goals for 2014.

This is one of the areas I work with my students on consistently to build the foundation they need for success… and today I am going to share some of those key points to help you get off to a great start for 2014.

When you are creating your goals for 2014, they need to have 3 Key Criteria to make them powerful for you.

1. Be specific – The more detailed you are with your goal, the better you know exactly what you want. When you know exactly what you want, it is easy to put a plan in place to achieve it.

2. Quantifiable/measureable – there has to be a way to measure or quantify your goal. Number of pounds you want to lose. Body fat percentage you want to achieve. A certain number of times to work out each week. These are all different ways to measure getting into better physical shape. Each has an actual number to use when measuring success. Make sure to choose one way to measure each goal.

3. Deadline – when will this goal happen? When you have a hard deadline, you are more likely to reach your goal. Without a deadline, the goal is just an idea to be completed at one point, some day in the future. Set your deadline to increase the likelihood your goal will happen.

For each goal you have, you must have all 3 of these criteria. What I find with many goals is they are missing one or more of these criteria.

Think for a minute on goals you previously set for your life. Did the goal have all three of these criteria?

Did you achieve the goal?

If you did not, the place to start to make your goals effective is implementing these criteria. You do want to achieve your goals when you set them, correct?

Take a look at what you have created for your 2014 goals. Do they each cover the 3 Key Criteria? If not, there is no better time than the present to solidify them.

If you are struggling when you sit down to create your goals and would like some assistance, come to my next Mindset Mastery Experience event. Get the next dates by clicking here.

I spend focused time working with you on your goals at this event. This is your opportunity to ensure your 2014 is built on a solid foundation. Make your goals a strong foundation for your 2014 success.

Make sure to watch for the next post with techniques to explode your success with your 2014 goals.

This is the 4th post in this series.  If you have missed any of the recent emails, you can catch up on this series on my blog here.

Today I want to focus on the second type of person at my events:

Those of you who have all the knowledge to begin the next step up in your life, yet still have taken little to no action on the knowledge.

Have you said or thought any of these?

  1. I’m almost ready to start my business.  I just need a little more information on ____________.
  2. What happens if I make a mistake or fail?
  3. My product is almost finished or ready to market.  I just have a few adjustments to make before starting.
  4. What if I don’t know what to do next?
  5. I’m ready to start, but something always seems to pop up and stops me from getting started.

Any of these sound familiar?

Thought they might.

Let’s run through these mindset obstacles and limiting beliefs to get you moving on your journey to success now.

Starting with #1 above – I’m almost ready to start my business.  I just need a little more information on ____________. This one is a key indicator you are an analysis paralysis victim.  You have heard me tell you the most successful CEO’s in the country make decisions based on only 30% of the available information.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, there will never be a point when you have every bit of information on a topic.  Even when you do think you have it all, someone else has already done it differently.  It’s the information age.  The information continues to come in all the time.

One of the most powerful training pieces I do at my Mindset Mastery Experience event focuses on making quick decisions and how much more you will accomplish over your entire lifetime taking action versus gathering tons of information.

Now the reason #1 can be such a big obstacle is because there can be a deeper mindset obstacle like #2 – What happens if I make a mistake or fail?
This comes directly from what we are taught as children by our parents and teachers – the need to always be right.  It’s how we are judged with grades in school.  One of the first pieces I learned when I started studying successful people is they all make mistakes.  It’s part of the process.
To succeed, you have to “fail” at some point.  It’s how you internalize this failure which creates the limiting belief.  Successful people look at the available data after a failure and make a decision.  Either they adjust what they are doing to change the result or they make the decision to move on to the next opportunity.
Look at it this way, what is the worst thing that could happen with your decision? Successful people look at this and decide if they can live with the consequences.  When I am good with either consequence, I move forward accepting the fact I might fail in my result.
Remember, Thomas Edison failed over 1000+ times when inventing the light bulb.  He viewed it as knowing multiple ways not to invent the electric light.  How can you reframe the results you may not like?

Moving on to #3 – My product or business is almost finished or ready to market. I just have a few adjustments to make before starting.

This statement is a dangerous one to make and follow since you are looking for everything to be perfect before putting it out there.  Why is this dangerous? More than likely after receiving market feedback you will be adjusting it again anyway.  At this point you are delaying the needed feedback.

If Bill Gates and Microsoft had followed this, we would still be waiting for Windows as an operating system.  He put a good product out and has continued to upgrade it.  And guess what.  He makes billions more each time he makes these changes.  You are missing out on the additional opportunity while you perfect your product or service.

And have you ever thought this after seeing a product or service – Darn it!  I had the same idea months/years ago. The first to market many times becomes the leader because of being first… whether the initial product was perfect or not.

If you have said statement #3 to yourself, I guarantee you have stopped your own opportunities for success from emerging.  When are you ready to realize the success you deserve?

Action always beats planning when it comes to revealing results.

For many with challenge #3, I have found the true base challenge is not wanting to perfect the product or service, it’s in mindset challenge #4 – What if I don’t know what to do next?

Instead of taking the next step, you use the fact you just need to make a few more changes as the excuse to not move forward.  You are comfortable tweaking the product or service so you stay stuck there instead of figuring out what’s next.

This not knowing what to do next can be a paralyzing feeling, right?  You can see the goal.  You just don’t know the first or next step to take to get there because there seem to be so many different options.

  • Which one will get me there fastest or is “THE” one to do now?
  • How can I know the action I choose is the right next step?

For many, this is alleviated with working with a mentor.  When you choose the right mentor, you are able to follow their path with each step laid out as “THE” next step.

Isn’t it much easier to follow the path already worn through the brush than to beat your own path down?  You are able to see what is next instead of guessing there is no cliff one step ahead you are unable to see.

I have found many of my students have enough information to create the success they want in their lives.  It’s putting it all together in a focused, logical process and taking the action which holds them back.

This is exactly what I train on at my Mindset Mastery Experience coming up in July.  At this 3-day event, I focus and guide you on the next steps for you to achieve the success you want.

Grab your FREE tickets to this training while they are still available.

The final mindset challenge for this second type of person – I’m ready to start, but something always seems to pop up and stops me from getting started. Now at times, this can happen to anyone.  How often does it happen to you?

This is another reason why so many people come to work with me.  We all have activities which can cause us to get off track.  Whether its the kids, the spouse, the family, friends, etc., etc.  The distractions are many.  When your “Why” is strong enough, you are able to refocus faster and find solutions to any challenge.

Now when it comes to talking about your why, it needs to be something you feel a deep emotion inside of you when you think or talk about it.  If you don’t feel it, you must keep on looking deeper.  This is the drive which propels you when distractions arise.  Your Why has to be stronger than the distraction!

A strong why carries you forward when you have distractions… or a lack of motivation… or you feel tired.  It brings to mind the question, “Is this the highest and best use of your time?” This question coupled with your strong why will help you stay on track at all times.

My why is the driving force behind all I do and the reason I train you and all my other students.

Look for my next post this week to discuss the next set of limiting beliefs holding you back from success.

All the Power to You!

Paul Finck

P.S. When you know you are ready to smash the barriers holding you back from the success you know you deserve, grab your FREE advanced training opportunity here.

Are you attempting to figure out why you have not been as successful as you had hoped and dreamed?

Have you followed the same path taught to you in school or by your family – go to school, get good grades, get a good job and work hard for your employer only to see it not creating the success, the wealth, and the happiness promised you?
Do you know you want a different result and just have no idea what to do or where to turn to get this different result… the happiness and satisfaction promised as your American Dream?

Then you are part of my first type of students I am discussing in today’s post:

Those who don’t know what to do to change your results in your life.

Now if this type isn’t you and you still know you want to learn about what’s holding you back from your success, stay tuned for the next emails this week or grab this FREE training now to figure out your limiting beliefs.

We agreed in the previous posts the challenge all 3 types of people face in many cases boils down to one foundational piece – mindset!

Knowing this, do any of these statements sound like one you have or would say?

  1. If I work harder, the happiness and wealth will come.
  2. I’m following the same path my parents did to create a good life for myself.
  3. I need to have a secure job with a steady paycheck and benefits to take care of myself and my family.
  4. It takes money to make money.
  5. I don’t know any different way to create something different for myself.

Any of these sound familiar?

Each of them individually, or even worse grouped together, will hold you back in reaching your dream life.  Are you now ready to create a change in your life?

Let’s break down some of these limiting beliefs and mindsets.

Starting with #1 above – If I work harder, the happiness and wealth will come.  This mindset is one of keeping on doing the same thing – even working harder at it – and expecting a different result.  You know what this is a definition for… insanity.  If you work harder at something which is giving you a result you don’t want, you will get more of what you don’t want.

Many in our society learn to work hard and are taught if you are not successful, you must work harder.  You see the challenge here, right?  If the process is faulty, working harder at it produces only more of the same results.

You did say you are looking for something different, correct?  Sounds like it’s time to do something different then.

#1 usually ties right in with #2 – I’m following the same path as my parents to create a good life. Go to school.  Get a good job.  Work hard. This is learned from our parents and our school system.  It is what they were taught by their parents and school systems.  They don’t know anything else.  If they don’t know a different way, how can they teach you a different way?

The question to ask yourself with #2 is, “Do you want the lifestyle your parents have now?” If you answer yes, keep doing what they do.  If not, you need different information to achieve different results. It’s hard to learn how to be wealthy, successful and happy from mentors who are not!

Answer this – would you go to a Spanish tutor to learn how to do Algebra?  They might guess right and help you.  Wouldn’t you feel better working with a math tutor who knows how to show you the way to master math?  Then why would you follow the path of someone who does not have what you want?

The next mindset challenge, #3, is something learned from the Industrial Age: Work for a good company for a steady paycheck and benefits to create a secure life for yourself and your family.

The company will take care of you while you work.  They will keep bumping up your income and promote you.  You will earn enough while you are working to take care of yourself through a retirement plan after they give you the gold watch at your retirement party.

How often have you heard or even said a variation of this?  Again, this comes down to the beliefs you have been taught over the years from your teachers and parents.  It’s what they do and what they did.  Do you want what they have now?

How secure is it to put your future, and your family’s well-being, in someone else’s hands whose #1 priority is taking care of themselves and their family?  Who is making you and your family their #1 priority then?  Maybe not quite as secure as you had thought, huh?

And this is a different time requiring different processes.  We are in the Information Age now.  Following Industrial Age thinking will not produce Industrial Age results any longer… unless you own the industry!

I have your attention now.  You want something different for yourself and your family, but doesn’t it take money to make moneyThis is mindset challenge #4.

I used to think this way also.  What I have learned in the last 27+ years as an entrepreneur, there are many ways to grab hold of the resources you may want or need to create your change.

When you work with me, I show you exactly how to create the future you want using leverage.  Leverage of time, money and knowledge.  Possessing any 2 you can create leverage to acquire the 3rd.  This is one of the most mind-expanding topics you ever learn.

This brings us to the final mindset challenge – I don’t know any different way to create the change I want for myself. This has proven to be the stumbling block of the masses.  It holds so many back from ever creating a new reality for themselves.

Many people are so used to being self-reliant or using traditional means of education to achieve success.  Realize, every successful person has found a mentor to teach them how to get where they want to go.

One question I get asked frequently about this is, “How do I find the right mentor for myself?”

My answer is simple.  Find the person who has exactly what you envision as the life you want.  Then do whatever it takes to work with them to learn how to do this for yourself.

Would you like to learn even more about creating the success and happiness you truly desire?

Do you think learning from an expert who has created this already in their life would be helpful for you to get there quickly too?

When you know you want to begin your journey creating the life you have always wanted and didn’t know how to get, click here for your limited-availability FREE training opportunity to work with me! You will learn exactly what you need to create the lifestyle you deserve.

Look for my next post this week to discuss the next set of limiting beliefs holding you back from success.

Just returned home from the event I was speaking and coaching at this past weekend in just enough time to get this second post out to you in this series of 6.  If you missed the first one, just click here to see it and fill in the gaps.

As a refresher of our conversation from this weekend, I was talking about the 3 distinct types of people I see at each event and the challenges they experience in creating the success they desire.

These 3 types are:

1.  Those who don’t know what to do to change your results in your life. You know you want something different and either just don’t know what it is or how to get there.

2.  Those who have all the knowledge to achieve a new phase in your life, yet still have taken little to no action on the knowledge. This is the analysis paralysis group as I like to call them.

3.  Those who know what to do, have done it, and still feel like there is more to life than what they have now. This is the group many others view as successful even while they feel there is so much more they want.

Which one of these 3 best describes you and where you are now in your pursuit of happiness in your life?

We agreed the challenge each of the 3 types of people face in many cases boil down to one foundational piece – mindset!

Now where did your mindset or your beliefs come from?

For each one of us, it has come from compiling experiences and knowledge from:
  • parents
  • relatives
  • teachers
  • friends
  • care givers
  • coaches/mentors
  • clergy
  • the news – whether this be TV, radio, print or the internet
  • advertising
  • books
  • videos
  • movies
  • TV shows
  • internet
  • social media

This is just a sampling of places which have created the mindset you currently have.  You see how varied this list is.
Some may even happen whether you are aware of them or not. A simple example is the TV ad which played as you were talking on the phone and all the sudden you are hungry for pizza.  See how this can happen?

How much interaction have you had with all of these influencers and more over your lifetime?  I know, it’s huge to think about.

And it’s not even just when you are awake!!

Have you ever fallen asleep with the television on… or when others were still awake and conversing about anything?  Heck my grandparents used to turn the heat up in the car just to get the kids to fall asleep on winter evenings.

These times when you are falling asleep or are asleep are when your mind is most impressionable.  This is when your conscious mind shuts off and your subconscious mind really gets to assimilate information quickly and deeply.

Who ever thought falling asleep to the Late Show and waking up with an infomercial playing really mattered, right?

You are bombarded all day long throughout your life with messages looking to shape your beliefs and your mindset.

Do you think some faulty information may get in occasionally whether you want it to or not?  If you are sleeping, you have very limited control as to what you are hearing which is programming your computer – your mind – at this particular moment.

The biggest challenge comes in not knowing what these unwanted mindsets are or even if they are present.  Yet they are great at forming limiting beliefs which hold each of us back from attaining our full potential.

Finding the mindset challenges and creating new beliefs to replace them is one of the most powerful ways I help my students.  It helps both on a business level and on a personal level.  Are you now ready for this change in your life?

Each of the 3 types of attendees I see at my events has their own set of limiting beliefs caused from their current mindset.  Each has different beliefs which hold them back from achieving all which is possible.  What is holding you back right now?

In my next post, we will begin breaking down the hidden ways your mind can play games with you holding you back from the goals you have for yourself.  I will break down each of the 3 different types above to shatter some of the common glass walls and ceilings you have now holding you back.

Look for the next post over the weekend.
